About us

Our family have lived in Milson for over almost 50 years and have farmed the surrounding land grazing sheep and cattle, together with our passion for riding and keeping horses with a few free range chickens, ducks, peacocks and guinea fowl.

About 3 years ago we decided to completely renovate Lakeside Retreat internally, whilst undertaking a large landscaping project around the property, a bug insect hotel, bird houses and wildlife habitats.We built a substantial stone bridge between the 2 lakes with a waterfall, plus a stone ford crossing the brook and planted an Arboretum in keeping with the existing woodland.

We have created a beautiful area dog friendly to walk around the lakes and have recently extended the path this year, to cross the brook onto our private estate which leads to another two freshwater pools in private woodland, enhanced with specimen tree planting a true nature reserve.

A totally hidden little part of Shropshire. We want our guests to feel ‘at one with nature’ either swimming in the natural lakes, rowing in the boat or sitting in the summer house which can be rotated in a circular motion, to align with the sun

Nestled below the Clee Hill, we have tried to encourage more wildlife with careful planting and during the summer blue dragon flies and kingfisher often visits the lakes, together with many other birds and some rare butterflies.

The Lakeside Retreat is a unique magical venue, available to hire for Weddings, Parties and private functions. Marquee Hire and Caterers can be arranged and tailored to your requirements.
